Born and raised in Los Angeles, Nina Shayan obtained a double major in Legal Studies and Psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, followed by a Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University.
Since her teenage years, Nina Shayan has been passionate about helping others and this has evolved into enthusiasm for family law. Prior to law school, Nina worked at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office in the Major Crimes Unit and volunteered with the Domestic Abuse Self Help (DASH) offices of multiple courthouses in Los Angeles County. Her undergraduate studies in psychology built off these experiences to give Nina a greater understanding and appreciation for the challenges that people experience throughout their lives.
In law school, determined to develop a career in family law, Nina Shayan pursued and excelled in a number of family law classes. An honors negotiation and advocacy student, Nina mediated various cases at Los Angeles County courthouses and worked as a legal clerk for the Harriet Buhai Center for Family Law. Throughout these activities, she developed strong relationships in the family law community and gained a deep grasp of the inner workings of the legal system.
In addition to pursuing her family law interests, Nina Shayan also developed business and real estate acumen by working for NYSE-list Real Estate Investment Trust and serving as the Real Estate Chair of Pepperdine’s Palmer Center for Entrepreneurship and the Law.
